project

involved

to pilot

ObjectivesThe main objective was

to

get

the

local

residents to

become

more

active

in

their

community

. As a

result

more

people

would

use

the

local

roads

for

their

activities

and

therefor

creating

a ”

shared

space

bewteen

cars

,

bikes

and

pedestrians

.

We

in Odense

belive

that

it

would

yeld

good

results

if, a

community

took

an

actively

role

alongside

the

trafficsplanners

when

trying

to

increase

the

use

of

bicycles

and

busses

ResultsThe avarge speed dropped by 12 % in Korup and 22 % in Bolbro

Both

control

points had an 1.1 %

increase

in the average speed

The

through

going

traffic

has

dropped

35 % in Bolbro and

incrased

by 12 % in Korup

- In Bolbro actions

were

taken

to

preven

through

going

traffic

61 % or the residents feel

that

the

traffic

speed has

dropped

The

amount

of residents

that

consider

crossing

the

roads

is

safe

inscreased

from 24 % to 61 %

Cycling

has

increased

by 62 % in the

two

pilot

areas

The

amount

of residents

speaking

with

each

other

every

day

has

increased

Lesseons learnedThe Danish Road Directorate used

6

month

to

approve

the

project

and

caused

some

of the residents to

lose

interest

in the

project

The

process

involving

the

local

drivers

was

very

positive and gave

good

local

support

The webpage

created

for

this

project

was

very

usefull

to

get

basic information out to the residents.

Furthermore

the residents felt

they

were

more

involved

in the

planning

proces

Local residents

are

very

posetive

about

these

kind of
