Jesus makes references to being God without actually saying it himself.
"Before Abraham was, I am" (John 8:58 KJV). This is a statement that Jesus is eternal.
When Jesus asks Peter who he is, he says "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus said, "Blessed are you, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven" (Matthew 16:13-17).
Without actually saying ‘I am God’ he is confirming that Peter is correct.
“My kingdom is not of this
world.’ Then Pilate said to him, “So you the king of the Jews?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king.” (John 18: 36-37)Jesus does not directly call himself King of the Jews but does say that he has a kingdom. How does Jesus refer to God? What does this show? What would have happened to Jesus if he had said ‘I am God’ in front of the Pharisees?
