Year: TRANSFERRING COURSES COMPLETED AT ANOTHER INSTITUTION TO ECUECU Policy & General Information (Applicable to all students): Students planning to complete courses at another college or university and transfer the credit back to ECU should discuss course options with their academic advisor and should be aware of the following: Coursesmusttaken a regionallyaccreditedinstitution;studentsmustearn a ‘C’ better (2.0) for a coursetransfer.Studentsshouldusethe“CourseEquivalencyGuide”inPiratePortdetermineappropriatetransfercourseoptions.Coursesnotlistedmust evaluatedfortransferthecorresponding ECU academicdepartmentdetermine ECU equivalency.Courseworkwillnottransferredforwhichcredithasalreadybeenearned ECU (grade D- higherearned).Studentswhohavefailed a course ECU cantaketheequivalentcourseanotherinstitutionandtransferbackECU.However,the gradereplacementpolicynotappliedthesecourses.TransfergradesareusedincomputingGPAdetermine“graduationwithhonors”distinction.Somedegreeprogramsincludetransfergrades inGPAcalculationdetermineacceptanceinto a major.CoursescompletedanotherinstitutionmeetGeneralEducation,major,minor,other ECU graduationrequirementswillevaluated and counted according to ECU’s standards, not those of the transferinstitution.Whentakingcourses ECU andanotherinstitutionthesametimeinthesamesemester,thetotalcredithourstakennotexceedECU’s limits:(fallandspring), 7 weeksummer), 14 (11 weeksummer).youhavebeenwithdrawnthroughtheCounselingandStudentDevelopmentCenterwithstipulationsregardingattendanceECU,those stipulationsarealsoineffectforcoursestakenanotherinstitution.If transfer course work is needed to fulfill graduation requirements and is taken during a student’s semester of graduation, all requirements mustmetbeforethefirstdaythesubsequentterm:Springgraduationterm = firstdaySummerterm,Summergraduationterm = first day of Fall term, Fall graduation term = first day of Springterm.ECU’sbaccalaureatedegreerequirementsstatethat: (a) A minimum 25% thecredithoursrequiredforthedegreeandleast 50% the totalhoursrequiredthemajormustcompletedECU,and(b) A minimum 50% thesemesterhoursrequiredinthestudent’smajor mustearnedthroughenrollmentin a regionallyaccreditedseniorcollege.Oncecourses are completed,studentsshould immediately request an officialtranscriptbesent to: East CarolinaUniversity,Officeofthe Registrar, Greenville,NC 27858.
