2. Revenue From Non-program FoodIntent: To ensure that revenues from the sale of non-program foods generate at least the same proportion as they contribute to SFA food costs

3. Revenue From Non-program FoodA non-program food is a food sold in a participating school other than a reimbursable meal and is purchased using funds from the school food service account

Revenue From Non-program FoodTo implement this requirement SFAs will need to:Identify the proportion of total food costs attributable to non-program food in order to establish its revenue targetPrice non-program food items to ensure that revenues will meet the requirement Track non-program food revenues separately from all other revenue items

5. Revenue From Non-program FoodExampleSFA has the following characteristics:Total Costs: $1,000,000Total Food Costs: $450,000Non-program Food Costs: $50,000Reimbursable meals Food Costs: $400,000Total Revenue: $1,000,000

Revenue From Non-Program FoodRevenue Requirement:Minimum Proportion of Revenue Required from Non-program Food Sales: $50,000/$450,000 = 11%Minimum Dollar Revenue Required from Non-program Food Sales: .11 x 1,000,000 = $110,000If this SFA earns $110,000 in revenue from non-program food sales, they are in compliance

7. Revenue From Non-Program FoodYou cannot assume that if you charge more for the product than the purchase cost, that the requirement is met:1 case 24 Vitamin water = $24.00Charge $2 ea

8. ComplianceRevenue from non-program food is reviewed by the state agency during the Coordinated Review Effort. Failure to comply with requirements will result in corrective action.
