In this section we are going to investigate how
disassembling and reconstructing a beanie hat will help you with your designing skills.

disassembly and reconstruction
Take for instance a beanie hat. A simple hat made up of
two
parts, a crown and a brim. This one has a dragon design on it.

By
disassembling
the hat, it is possible to find out what pattern pieces were used to make it. An
understanding
of how the hat is
constructed
can help you with your design work.
Slide3Deconstructing
the hat (undoing the stitches), it is possible to understand how a hat is constructed. Helping you to design achievable yet interesting ideas for your hat.

Zig Zag stitches
Slide10This is the most
difficult part, you must insure that all edges are
pinned together
before sewing, using a zig-zag stitch. You are also sewing through
four layers
of fleece, take your time to make this seam.
