Integration

with 2 other ways of influenceAll 6 ways of women’s influence are interrelatedA different role can be taken in each different stage of life / situationClosest integration of the role of a Citizen is observed with 2 other roles:Being a MotherFostering local legislation (in countries where it is lacking) and its execution in cases such as in-vitro, surrogacy, adoption, etc.;Control and prevention of any ‘nasty money business’ in all of the above cases;

Nurturing and developing an active civil society in public and on the social media, which could help speed up any legislative procedures.

Being a Professional

Fostering de-feminization of certain professions (example: teacher)

Ensuring equal percentage of male and female experts in areas such as science, entertainment, etc.

Popularizing the so-called recent ‘inclusion rider’ clause in celebrities’ contracts

Examples of issues

to be resolved by the way of influence as a citizen Lack of legislation in Bulgaria for the following case related to Motherhood:A woman who started an in-vitro procedure with her husband suffered his loss due to cancer, and though she wishes to, she cannot use his frozen specimen and continue the in-vitro procedure, as there is no legislation regulating any such cases. There is not a clear legal regulation in such a case also if the woman pursues using the kid’s right to inheriting any property of the deceased father.

She alarmed the media, yet the situation remains unresolved – first the Parliament must take action and then execution of that right can be handled, which can happen the earliest in 5 years, which is the maximum period for keeping the frozen specimen.

Violence in the classroom

An over-ambitious nursery teacher in the city of Burgas (Bulgaria) allowed herself to use methods of punishment and violence in the classroom. There was NO REACTION from the parents, as NONE of them had noticed the problem, except ONE ONLY!In order to prove her case, the parent who spotted the abuse decided to use an illegal method – placing a hidden camera in the classroom (the law recognizes this as a crime). When the video circulated the social media (Facebook) and received a vast response, the national media BTV also put it on screen. The Municipality took speedy measures, immediately firing the management of the kindergarten and the guilty teacher.

What's An Inclusion

Rider?Story Behind F. McDormand's WordsSimply put: It's a stipulation that actors and actresses can ask (or demand) to have inserted into their contracts, which would require a certain level of diversity among a film's cast and crew. For instance, an A-list actor negotiating to join a film could use the inclusion rider to insist that "tertiary speaking characters should match the gender distribution of the setting for the film, as long as it's sensible for the plot," Stacy L. Smith

 explained

in a 2014 column

 that introduced the idea in

The Hollywood Reporter

.

Smith, who directs the

Annenberg Inclusion Initiative

at the University of Southern California, told NPR's Mary Louise Kelly she had "absolutely no idea"

McDormand

would bring up the concept at the Oscars. "But," Smith added, "talk about being elated and thrilled to hear those two words broadcast around the world."

Smith has pushed for years for more diverse representation in film — delivering

a TED Talk on the topic

while she was at it — and the inclusion rider has been a crucial arrow in her quiver

.
