Rank your subjects– which do you believe needs the most improvement, and the one you need to spend the least amount of time working?

Then, if you have your score sheet, look at the sub-categories within each section. Which ones were you strong in, and which ones need improvement?

If you do not, what parts of each test do you struggle with the most? Slide5

ACT Goals

Take a moment to set TWO goals for the ACT– they can be numbers related, or they can be skill related

HOW you plan on getting there

For example:

I want to improve my English score, by bettering my vocabulary within context

I would like my composite score to improve to a 24. I plan to do this through practicing my Science and Math sections. Slide6

Stations!!

Count off, or divide into four groups. Each group will have a set of practice problems, or one problem

Take a piece of paper, and record each section, and what you believe the answers to be.

You MAY talk to one another, and you must write down WHY the answer is correct!

Information to Know

Factors- Pacing, Timing, Language in the test, Vocabulary– how do these play in?

Math– difficulty INCREASES with the test– why is this important?

These are tests of SKILL– with practice you CAN master them!Slide8

Time management is a large part of the test…

Figure out how many questions you need

to complete

Find questions that are EASIEST and complete them first

Accuracy before speed– RIGHT slower, WRONG faster
