What is the nucleus?

The nucleus is the control center of the cell.

Hereditary information is stored as DNA and RNA in the nucleus.

The nucleus controls reproduction, movement, eating, and more.

It contains information necessary for constructing the cell.

It is the “brain” of the cell.Slide3

Structure of the nucleus

The nucleus has a double membrane, referred to as the nuclear envelope, which keeps the entire organelle incased in order to isolate its contents from the rest of the cell.

Nuclear pores dot the surface of the nuclear envelope. They regulate the transport of large molecules into and out of the nucleus. Small molecules and ions are able to pass through the membrane freely.

The nucleolus can be thought of as the “brain” of the nucleus. It’s made up of proteins and Ribonucleic Acids. The main function of the nucleolus is to rewrite Ribosomal RNA and combine it with

protiens

. Slide4

Associating departments

Ribosomes are made in the nucleus.

They make proteins which are also essential for the life of the cell.

Without the pair of organelles, the cell wouldn’t be able to live.

Also, the Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum synthesizes proteins

Packages and delivers things around the cell, directed by the nucleus

The Mitochondria is essential for communicating with the nucleus to maintain the cell’s health. Slide5

The importance and purpose of the nucleus

The Nucleus contains the majority of the cell’s genetic material, and is the site for genetic transcription.

It protects the DNA by keeping it separate from the cytoplasm.

It also maintains the security of the genes.

It regulates gene expression which controls the function of the entire cell.

The nucleus contains the information needed to create

proteins. Slide6

Don’t be clueless, Keep the nucleus!Slide7
