1 KEDO - ROTARY FILES : D IRECTIONS
KEDO - ROTARY FILES : D IRECTIONS F OR U SE GANESH JEEVANANDAN DEC EMBER 2016 1 KEDO ROTARY FILES C LINICAL D IRECTIONS F OR U SE B ACKGROUND : K edo n ickel - titanium rotary files are patented files exclusively used for root canal preparation of primary teeth. Kedo rotary files have a variably variable (VV) taper designs providing the flexibility and efficiency to achieve consistently success ful cleaning and shaping. These files result in significant preparation in the corona l third and sufficient preparation at the middle and apical third of the primary root resulting in an easy flow of the obturating material and avoiding lateral perforation at the apical region. G UIDELINES FOR U SE :  Establish straight - line access  U se #10 hand files to assess the patency of the canal  Use #15 hand files for initial enlargement before the use of rotary files  Use root canal lubricant during instrumentation  Clean flutes frequently and inspect for signs of distortion  Use instruments with recommended motion ,

If the No s . 15 hand files have a snug fit, the canal is said to be narrower. If the No 15 hand files have a loose fit, the canal is said to be wider. Stainl ess steel Nos . 15 hand files are then used in reciprocating back and forth motion. Work those instruments passively and progressively until they are loose in narrower canals. In case of wider canal use No s. 15 to for initial enlargement. 3) D1 (red ) Kedo ro tary file is used in the narrower canal(s) . D 1 is designed to cut dentin, in a crown down m anner, with its controlled taper avoiding excess root dentin removal . D1 files are used till the working length. Irrigate the canal(s) to break up debri s. 4) E1 (blue) Kedo rotary file is used in the wider canal(s). E1 is designed to cut dentin, in a crown down manner,

with its controlled taper avoiding excess root dentin removal in wider canals. E1 files are used till the working length. Irrigate the canal(s) to break up debris. For ease in preparation of the wider canal ( s ) , D1 kedo rotary file (red ) can be used first followed by E1 kedo rotary file (blue) . 5) U1 (black) Kedo rotary file is used in the anterior canal(s). U1 is designed to cut dentin, in a crown down manner, with its controlled taper avoiding excess root dentin removal. U1 files are used till the working length. Irrigate the canal(s) to break up debris . 6) Kedo Rotary files using tips : KEDO - ROTARY FILES : D IRECTIONS F OR U SE GANESH JEEVANANDAN DEC EMBER 2016 3 a. Use the files only in torque controlled endodontic motor with 300 RPM, 2 - 2.4 torque . b. Always irrigate the canal before engaging a file and use the files ‘in and out’ action (not brushing). c. Withdraw the files once the working length is reached. d. Clean the files after each use and check for distortion. e. Avoid forceful preparation during instrumentat ion by applying excess pressure on the file
