Prehistory. is the time before written records.. Prehistoric cultures did not leave written records but they did leave . There are several difficulties with doing research to compare cultures. First, there is the simple problem of language. A . signficant. part of how we interpret abnormal . behaviour. is how we talk about it and describe the symptoms. If the researchers rely on translation/interpretation, then there may be errors. This is why a process called "back translation" is often used - that is, the translation into the language of researcher is then translated back to the language of the participant/patient by a different interpreter to establish the credibility of the translation. Other concerns are that there is researcher bias based on stereotyping, cultures may not be trustful of outsiders coming in to discuss their abnormal . There are many different definitions of food security. The definition below is frequently used.. The World Food Summit of 1996 defined food security as existing “when all people at all times have access to sufficient, safe, nutritious food to maintain a healthy and active life”.. Astronomy Across Cultures: A History of Non-Western Astronomy consists of essays dealing with the astronomical knowledge and beliefs of cultures outside the United States and Europe. In addition to articles surveying Islamic, Chinese, Native American, Aboriginal Australian, Polynesian, Egyptian and Tibetan astronomy, among others, the book includes essays on Sky Tales and Why We Tell Them and Astronomy and Prehistory, and Astronomy and Astrology. The essays address the connections between science and culture and relate astronomical practices to the cultures which produced them. Each essay is well illustrated and contains an extensive bibliography. Because the geographic range is global, the book fills a gap in both the history of science and in cultural studies. It should find a place on the bookshelves of advanced undergraduate students, graduate students, and scholars, as well as in libraries serving those groups. 1 Background paper of the Steering Committee of the Circumpolar Inuit Health S trategy Inuit Circumpolar Council - Canada M ay 2012 2 Food Security across the Arctic Food security is a si tuation t produced by different activities.
