A compound word simply meaning. “To say the same thing about something.”

It means to say the same thing about sin that God says about it. See it for what it really is.

Don’t try to whitewash it, deny it, or rationalize it, or excuse it. It is sin and there is no way to frame it in any other terms. Slide19

Unconfessed sin is like faulty lines that can collapse at any minute. We can ignore them, be overwhelmed by them, rationalize them- but ultimately they will erupt and do great damage. Some of the damage you can never repair on your own.Slide22

John White

In the end I managed to explain to her why I was there, but I can still feel the sense of shame that made me balk at standing in line with the other men who had a venereal disease. Yet Jesus shunned shame as he [went to the cross]. Slide48

John White

And the moral gulf that separated him from us was far greater than that separating me from the men at the clinic … But he crossed the gulf, joining our ranks, embraced us and still remained pure. He identified with those he came to save. He became like us. Slide49
Slide50

APPLICATION

The first thing every person must do even to become a citizen of God’s Kingdom is to understand how access is gained. It is gained through believing in Jesus as God and as the only righteous one who has died for our sins.Slide51

APPLICATION

We must recognize that when we believe in Jesus we become a new creation, we are born again to new life and we receive the Spirit of God who empowers us to avoid the sins of the flesh.Slide52

APPLICATION

But, the fact remains, that believers do not always walk in the Spirit and are still prone to sin. The atonement of Christ allows us to recognize our sin for what it is and confess it before God who in turn offers forgiveness for all of our sin.Slide53

APPLICATION

The effects of Jesus atonement are still in effect in that He remains seated at the right hand of the Father speaking our behalf constantly. For that reason we need to see our sin for what it really is, confess it before God, and constantly serve Him out of love and thankfulness for what He has done. When we grasp the magnitude of His great love for us it gives us cause to love Him and others in response.Slide54
Slide55

Puerto Rican Woman

This woman understood the love and mercy of Jesus and was able to show her love to this young boy. How much more so can we show Gods love as a response to how He has loved and saved you. Slide56
