OBJECTIVES hanism for AEE professionals who have already proven their capability as Certified Energy Managers and wish to become registered as a Certified Energy Manager-International and put themselves forward for third party work for ESOS in the UK. ESOS is the UK Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme and is put in place to meet some of the requirements of the European Energy Efficiency Directive. Under ESOS all UK undertakings that are not SME’s are required to undertake energy audits every four years unless their undertaking is ISO 50001 Certified by an accredited Certification Provider. rnational Directory has been approved to allow individuals listed on this register to act as lead assessors. UKAEE, the UK Chapter of AEE also hosts on behalf of AEE a register of individuals available to undertake third party work for ESOS obligated parties. An individual completing this application must have a current CEM certification. If this application to be added the the certification expiration datdate. The individual must maintain their CEM certification for their CEMI to remain active. After the filing and acceptance of this application an individual’s CEMI will be renewed automatically at the time of CEM renewal and future CEMI renewals will not be required. OBLIGATIONS AEE, under its approval, is obligated to meet the strict criteria listed in its application to the UK Environment Agency in assessment of individuals for listing on tctory. AEE is req

uired to assess the competence of each individual against the core competency requirements of an ESOS lead assessor (as outlined in PAS 51215 published by BSI) and to retain a recothese competencies. This would normally be done in conjunction with an individual’s CEMI Training. EXCEPTION ROUTE “exception” route where individuals that already have the competencies required are allowed to join the dibecome a CEM, AEE does not require an individual to undertake the CEMI examination. A CEM must accumulate ten professional credits every three years and submit a completed Renewal Form to the Certification Director to remain c

ertified. CEM renewal notices are mailed in the 3year of recertification six months prior to the expiration date, which falls on December 31 of that year. Professional credits for recertification can be accumulated at any time, within the three year period. For example, Energy Managers receiving a CEM certification in 2009, must file a record of ten professional points by December 31, 2012 to receive a CEM certificate for another 3-year period. Credits are not maintained by AEE during the three year period.
