Ecological effects of harmful pollutants in the troposphere: Transcript
Chemistry 38001 Fall 2014 Chris Sturken Crystal Chen Ellen Lu The Damages of T ropospheric O zone on Plants and its R oles in the Climate Change Loop Roles GW increases . There . has been . rapid . worldwide advancements . in science and technology. But all these advancements have contributed to various forms of . pollution.. Sources.. 1.. Industries.. Industrial pollutants have been one of the major sources of pollution and affects resources like . The . troposphere. is the lowest layer of Earth's atmosphere. The troposphere starts at Earth's surface and goes up to a height of 7 to 20 km (4 to 12 miles, or 23,000 to 65,000 feet) above sea level. Most of the mass (about 75-80%) of the atmosphere is in the troposphere. Almost all weather occurs within this layer. Air is warmest at the bottom of the troposphere near ground level. Higher up it gets colder. Air pressure and the density of the air are also less at high altitudes. Nearly all of the water vapor and dust particles in the atmosphere are in the troposphere. That is why most clouds are found in this lowest layer, too. The troposphere is heated from below. The warm air, heated by the sun, tends to rise. That keeps the air in the troposphere "stirred up". The top of the troposphere is quite cold. Air also gets 'thinner' as you go higher up. . Outdoor Air Pollution. Stationary and Mobile Sources of Air Pollution. Two Sources of Air Pollution. 1. . Stationary Sources:. have a relatively fixed location. Point Sources: . Fugitive Sources: . Area Sources:. The most important among these gases are therefore water vapourand carbon dioxide. The basic principles of the water cycle are well known: Evaporation of liquid water at the surface, condensation, clo Helpful Bacteria. Most bacteria are harmless to humans.. Many are useful:. Aid in digestion. Provide nutrients for plants by breaking down dead material by decomposition. Provide drugs and hormones. Provide some types of food.. MESOSPHERE. THERMOSPHERE. STRATOSPHERE. TROPOSPHERE. 12 km. I am the layer of the atmosphere second closest to the ground. MESOSPHERE. THERMOSPHERE. TROPOSPHERE. STRATOSPHERE. 12 km. 50 km. I am the layer of the atmosphere third closest to the ground. atm. means smoke or vapor. The Atmosphere. Here are the layers of the atmosphere. The Atmosphere covers the whole earth!. Exosphere. – . (exo) meaning outer or beyond, so this is the outermost layer of our . Harmful substance-many materials or substances used or created that could harm your health. These substances could be dusts, gases, or fumes that you breathe in, or liquids, gels or powders that come into contact with your eyes or skin. . V. Poznyak. .
