Family To Me: a Lyric Poem

Family to me has many meanings

For all are full of diverse feelings

Love and anger, both within a single oneChildren who stay and children who runCan one family be better than another? It all depends on how they love each otherA family’s love should last foreverBonds of love nothing can severFor the family I have, I am happy and blessedAnd nothing more truthful have I ever confessedFamily has many meanings, but one rises aboveThe greatest meaning of family, is that of love Slide3

Memories Of My Grandparents’ Place - Poem by Marilyn Lott

As I look up on the old pictures

Where my grandparents used to live

So many memories bring back yesterdayFor so much they have to giveThe old chicken house was a landmarkThat wasn’t used for 40 years at leastAs I think about those creaturesMy memories continue to increase Grandpa’s tractor so much a partOf his life as I remember itI smile as I picture him ridingOn the place where he used to sitSlide4

And the roses grandma tended

So carefully she cut and pruned

I can smell them even now

She’d place them in many roomsGrandpa’s old barn, so sad it wasAnd the pictures show so wellThe usefulness gone many yearsBut I still remember the musky smellYes, although things won’t be the sameI have recollections that will stay with meGrandpa and Grandma are goneBut my memories will never flee!
