Luke 21:34-36

34

“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly.

35

For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth.

36

Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

1 Timothy 3:7

Moreover he must have a good testimony among those who are outside,

lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil

Luke 17:1

Then He said to the disciples, “

It is impossible that no offenses should come

, but woe

to him

through whom they do come!

T

he word “offence” here is the Greek word “

scandalon

” this word refers to the part of a trap where the bait is attached.

It is also where the English word “scandal” comes from.

So Jesus is referring to laying a trap in someone's way, or starting something that would bring scandal or hurt to a person.Slide4

Proverbs 18:6-8

6

A fool’s lips enter into contention,

And his mouth calls for blows.

7

A fool’s mouth

is

his destruction,

And his lips

are

the snare of his soul.

8

The words of a talebearer

are

like tasty trifles,

And they go down into the inmost body.

The most successful trap that the enemy uses against anyone is often the words of their own mouth.Slide5

1 Samuel

18:20-22

Now Michal, Saul’s daughter, loved David. And they told Saul, and the thing pleased him. 21 So Saul said, “I will give her to him, that she may be a snare to him, and that the hand of the Philistines may be against him.” Therefore Saul said to David a second time, “You shall be my son-in-law today.”22 And Saul commanded his servants, “Communicate with David secretly, and say, ‘Look, the king has delight in you, and all his servants love you. Now therefore, become the king’s son-in-law.’”

It was this same daughter of Saul that ridiculed King David in

2

Samuel 6 for taking off his royal apparel and danced with all his might before the Lord.

After two things never happened again. She never gave birth and she was never called David’s wife, but Saul’s daughterSlide6

Afterward it happened that he loved a woman in the Valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah. 5 And the lords of the Philistines came up to her and said to her, “Entice him, and find out where his great strength lies, and by what means we may overpower him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and every one of us will give you eleven hundred

pieces

of silver.”

Satan will use anything and anyone that he can as a trap against you. He will not only use the words of your own mouth as a trap but he will use your own emotions to snare you.Slide7

2 Samuel

11:1-5

It happened in the spring of the year, at the time

when kings go out

to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem.2 Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house

. And

from the roof he saw a woman bathing

, and the woman

was

very beautiful to behold

.

3

So

David sent and inquired about the woman

. And

someone

said, “

Is

this not Bathsheba, the daughter of

Eliam

,

the wife of Uriah the Hittite

?”

4

Then David sent messengers,

and took her; and she came to him, and he lay with her, for she was cleansed from her impurity; and she returned to her house.

5

And the woman conceived; so she sent and told David, and said, “I

am

with child.”

This was no accident it was a TRAP!!!Slide8

Psalm

91:2-4

I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowlerAnd from the perilous pestilence.

4

He shall cover you with His feathers,

And under His wings you shall take refuge;

His truth

shall be your

shield and buckler.

Your only hope is absolute trust in the Lord to cover you, and deliver you if you are trapped!!!Slide9

Psalm

124:6-8

6

Blessed be the Lord,Who has not given us as prey to their teeth.7 Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers;

The snare is broken, and we have escaped

.

Our help is in the name of the Lord,Who made heaven and earthSlide10

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,Because He has anointed MeTo preach the gospel to the poor;He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,To proclaim liberty to

the

captives

And recovery of sight to

the

blind,To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
