Objective

To provide every South African Olympic/Paralympic/World Games medal potential Athlete with all possible opportunities, to prepare for the African Games, Commonwealth Games, World Games, Paralympic and Olympic Games, with the ultimate goal of winning a medal.

SASCOC considers

the following factors to accept athletes onto the programme:

Athlete’s current international ranking;Athlete’s consistency with podium finishes at international events over the past year;

Athlete’s proven ability to constantly perform at higher level and return

medals.

For

athletes to qualify for support, they shall be:

Athletes who were medallists at the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games and are still eligible for participation/ committed to preparing for Tokyo 2020.

Athletes who were

finalists (up to and including 5th position) at the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and are still eligible for participation/ committed to preparing for Tokyo 2020.SASCOC reserves the right to amend the qualification criteria should the international qualification criteria vary or be amended at any stage prior to any SASCOC approved event.

Additional criteria will be set by SASCOC considering the level of the sport, number of countries, as well as the rankings/ results of individuals or teams in the particular sport.
