Warm-up Take out worksheet on inequalities from last week that the sub gave you. Make sure you can do and understand the problems on the sheet. We will do problems 5,6,9,13

Discuss HW Homework 2 This was graded last week Showing work is important fractions and absolute values Write down the problems helps to see your mistakes 48 i people forgot For every 2 you got wrong I took off 1 point FACE worksheet from Friday This was review of absolute values and some basic addition and subtraction I looked at what you had done to determine 4 or 5 points, drawing and /or coloring I would have thought coloring would be a little better

Quiz 2 Explaining in 1 Number with larger absolute value or distance from zero would give sign Number 2 Drawing a number line with the arrow going towards – and the difference in temps should be negative showing the temp is falling Showing work for 3 and 4 Question 5 How do we know if a number will be pos , neg or zero, we talked about in class How could we apply this to this problem

On back of Quiz try these problems What numbers added to -8 will give you an answer Greater than zero Less than zero Equal to zero What numbers added to 6 will give you an answer Greater than zero Less than zero Equal to zero

Honors Vocab part 1 is due on Wednesday Questions on the vocab

Warm-Up

Accentuate the Negative Integers and Rational Numbers

Homework Starts on page 67 Due 9/12 A 9a,9b,9c,10c,10d,14a,15a,15b,19,25d,25e,25f B 9j,9k,10g,10h, 15g,15h,25j,25k,49,50,51,56 IXL A11 and B5 Due 9/12 Quiz 9/13

Vocab Multiplicative Identity A number multiplied by 1 is that number Multiplicative Inverse A number multiplied by its reciprocal is 1 Quotient is the answer for division problems

Investigation 3: Multiplying and Dividing Rational Numbers Students will demonstrate how to combine numbers with the same sign and different signs

3.1 Multiplication Patterns with Integers Students will understand multiplication and division of integers.

Problem 3.1 pg 56 Video Look over first page of 3.1 after video we will discuss the questions at the bottom of the page Work through A only in the investigation What are some of the basic multiplication rules/facts that you know? How do you represent multiplication ? (symbols/words) How would you represent multiplication on a number line, a chip board? What is multiplication Repeated addition

Warm-up

3.2 Multiplication of Rational Numbers Students will be able to demonstrate multiplication of rational numbers (fractions).

Problem 3.2 pg 58 Do A 1 and 2 What is common? What is the product for each? Do C 1 – 3 Rules for 2 pos , 2 neg , 1 of each Do E Predict if answer is Pos or Neg don’t actually solve, but be able to explain whyRules for signs and multiplication How do we multiply fractions Num to Num and Denom to denom How do we multiply mixed numbers How do we multiply if more than one multiplication Does order matter

Warm-up Discuss problem 41 on homework

3.3 Division of Rational Numbers Students will demonstrate how to divide rational numbers.

Warm-up Find area and perimeter

Problem 3.3 start on Page 60 Read page 60 and answer question at bottom of page. Do B (remember what a rate is), be able to explain your process Do C 1 and 2 Do E Do F Do G We will discuss in class What is division Undoing multiplication, breaking apart a number How do we divide numbers – how many times a number goes into another number How do we divide fractions KFC What is we have negatives Triangle

3.4 Playing the Integer Product Game Students will play a game to help with their multiplication and division skills

Integer Product Game pg 64 2 players game, we may need some groups of 3 Then on page 65 answer A and E We will discuss as a class Discuss Homework Due Problem 41

Quiz Review Items Multiplication and Division are key concepts Can you rewrite expression to solve for a variable, fact families Multiplicative Identity and Inverse Algorithms to help with solving Writing number sentences or equations
