Agent orange origins

Agent orange is a mixture of herbicide and defoliant.

This Agent Orange was used for chemical warfare

It was manufactured for the U.S Department of Defense

It was used in Operation Ranch Hands.

The United States dropped 55 gallons on North Vietnam Slide3

Intended uses of Agent Orange

It was supposed to defoliate forested and rural land

One reason was to get rid of all the foliage, so the U.S troops can see the booby traps

Also to get rid of Vietminh’s

cover, and

to induce Forced Draft

HUMAN BODY OUTCOMES

It caused birth defects.

It also caused cancer, in the lungs, also women got a higher rate of miscarriages.

There were many other many affects such as, cleft palate, mental disabilities, hernia, etc.

U.S soldiers were also affected the same way as the Vietnamese.

ECOLOGICAL OUTCOMES

3,100,000 Ha, of agent orange was sprayed across North Vietnam.

It got rid of all the foliage over time, it poisoned their soil, and their water.

As well as the livestock was affected, the livestock got the same effects as the North Vietnamese.Slide6
