All documents originate from the USPTO, Japan, China, Germany, Canada, the European Patent Office (EPO), and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

Coverage of USPTO granted patents and published patent applications is from 1790. EPO and WIPO coverage is from 1978, China from 1984, Germany from 1877, and Canada from 1863.

Google Patents provides links to Google Scholar and Google Books through the Find Prior Art interface if “Include non-patent literature (Google Scholar)” box is selected on Google patents main page.Patents in foreign languages are machine translated to English making them searchable using English keywords.

Search Terms are auto-generated from title, abstract, claims, description, CPC codes, and full text of Scholar documents.

Google scholar documents have been assigned CPC codes using a machine-classification model.

Searching a CPC code includes all child codes.An algorithm groups results by CPC codes thought to give you better chance of narrowing down your results.

Begin typing a CPC code, software populates suggested codes with definitions.After selecting desired code, results are refreshed with new search limitation.

Next search query box will have newly suggested CPC codes based on updated search.

Entering keywords, such as gold, will also generate CPC codes list to choose from.

This feature of live CPC codes suggestion enables the user to expand strategy with alternative CPC codes as search evolves.
