Private Schools/Equitable Services

Applies to Titles I-A, II-A, III, IV-A and IV-B

The purpose is to provide equitable services to students, teachers and administrators of private schools at the same level as their public school

counterparts

Under the uniform provisions,

school districts

are

required

to make educational services available to eligible private school students and educational personnel

consistent with the number of eligible students enrolled in private elementary and secondary schools in the areas served by the district.

Private school officials have the right to file a complaint with the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) if they feel the school district did not:

Complete the consultation in a timely and meaningful manner

Give consideration to the views of the private school

Provide equitable services

Filing a Complaint

A statement that the SEA,

LEA has

violated a requirement of a federal statute or regulation that applies to a program requiring equitable participation;

The facts on which the statement is based and the specific statutory or regulatory requirement allegedly violated; and

The signature of the complainant.
