4 more crusades would be attempted but none of them would be successful.

Children crusades also tried to take Jerusalem, 50,000 marched to see the Pope in Italy.

Most of them died along the way, the pope told them to go home and come back when they were older, and only 2,000 survived the trip home. Slide7

The Effects of the Crusades

The crusades are an example of the power of the church.

Thousands were called to go to the holy lands, this allowed women to manage affairs and run family businesses.

Trade expanded and the trade with Asia flourished.

It lessened the power of the Pope.

It also made many religions bitter towards each other.
