– Head Coaches want Assistants who can help them solve problems

Your Role as an Assistant in Player Development

*Identify the strengths and weaknesses of each player

*Provide them with the drills necessary for each player

to improve weaknesses

*Work with the player on establishing how they see

My Pet Peeve is when a coach comes to me at the end of the year complaining about a player and gives me this line,

“I’ve told Addy to closeout with her feet chopping and her hands high 100

times

but she still won’t do it.”

If your Head Coach is saying this to you, then you need to

FIND A WAY

Don Meyer emphasized this. Try new ideas, but don’t overhaul everything each year. Stay consistent.
