Some information on smiling and laughing:

There are different types of smiles, such as the “Duchenne smile”, the tight lipped smile, an uneven smile, the upper smile, the grin, the smirk and the broad smile.

Smiles are controlled by two sets of the zygomatic muscles of the face, and if you are genuinely smiling your eyes are pulled back slightly by the orbicularis oculi muscles.

It’s believed that the smile may have been created as a type of defense mechanism, either submissive or domineering.

Statistics also show that women smile more than men. Slide6
