Slide55Driver Adoption
Slide56Driver training.
Each truck should get the following items:
A copy of the cab card (should have been included in the install kit, you will also have electronic copies of it.
A blank log book
Train your drivers. Walk through this presentation up to the slide before this. Talk with them about use of the system. Be prepared for questions and resistance.
Make sure each driver understands what the cab card is for and can use it for reference. Consider printing copies for each driver.
Consider preparing a formal policy around electronic logs.
Driver adoption concerns:
Early on in the adoptions of
elogs
, there will be many driver concerns.
Some will not understand the system first go (slow learners)
Some will be resistant (don’t want
elogs
)
There will be legitimate technical issues (no product is perfect)
The solution for all three is to go to the truck with the driver and walk through whatever they were doing when they hit their snag. Once you find the issue, you can correct it.
Slow learners take some patience, but will eventually get it.
Resistant drivers also take some patience, but are a straightforward management process.
Technical issues – from the truck, call Navman Support at 888-449-4414. Be prepared to walk through the issue with support. Some issues can be fixed remotely on the spot, others will require hardware (warranty) or a tech visit.
Note that the first two (slow learners and resistant drivers) go away at the pace you choose. The sooner you work through them with the drivers, the faster everyone adopts the necessary discipline to use logs.
