2. Speaker 0:01 Hi there, I'm Crystal a counselor representing the accessibility Resource Center at Grossmont College. First off, welcome. We're so glad you're here, and we're really excited for the day we get to work with you again in person. Now the Accessibility Resource Center also known as the ARC is a campus program serving students with disabilities. The ARC provides students with disabilities academic accommodations and support services to assist with educational limitations.Speaker 0:31 Now some of those different abilities might include physical, deaf and hard of hearing, blind and low vision, different learning abilities acquired brain injury, among others, including temporary health conditions. Now some of those educational limitations might look different for each person. It's a pretty broad category because each person experiences, their disability differently.Speaker 0:55 Now your academic accommodations are determined during your intake appointment, and are on an individualized basis.Speaker 1:03 So during your initial appointment. You'll work with an ARC counselor to determine what your accommodations might look like, and those that support your learning style the best.Speaker 1:12 They may include academic counseling or disability management, counseling, testing accommodations, such as extended time on tests audiobooks interpreting services assistive technology or registration assistance, like priority registration.Speaker 1:30 Now to be eligible for our services we do require verification of disability, which is provided prior to the initial intake appointment. Documentation can include but is not limited to medical records, such as a letter from your provider discharge paperwork, or agency records, such as from the Veteran Affairs Office. Regional Center, or the Department of Rehabilitation documentation can also be educational records such as an IEP or 504 plan from high school. If you do not have existing documentation, you can ask the licensed providers such as a doctor psychiatrist or mental health therapist to complete the verification of disability form, which can be found on our website. Once obtained, you can email your verification disability to us at grossmont.arc@gcccd.edu.Speaker 2:24 Now if you're unsure if you're eligible for services or if you have adequate documentation, or are experiencing educational limitations.
