To strengthen the participating states capacity to increase and support self advocacy through relationships and partnerships at the community level.

What is the purpose of Our Community Standing Strong (OCSS)?

The grant is for $100,000 a year and may be funded for two more years. The objectives of the project includePeer advocacy and mentoring, Training and leadership development, Educations and outreach.

Collection of 1200 surveys on what are the technical assistance needs of the state and region.Each state will collect and input 150 surveys in survey monkey

Developing state and regional plans for peer to peer technical assistanceState and regional plans for Technical Assistance will be developed based on survey results

Each state will receive a grant to complete surveys, develop a plan for technical assistance and begin implementation of the plan.States will receive a total of $6250 for the first year

The Advisory Committee will meet at a minimum of four times a yearThis is our first meeting.We will conduct our meetings as a WebinarWe will have another one in November to work on survey and grant contracts. November 19, 2013 at 2:30 CST. 3:30 EST

The grant will pay for one nights lodging for one nights lodging for 2 advisory members/and one ally to attend the meeting. States will have to assume responsibility for travel and per diem for these meetings
