Zeus, king of all gods.

Zeus was the king of the gods. He usually appears in art as a strong, middle aged bearded man, of great power and dignity. Sometimes he carry's his symbol, a thunder bolt

Athena, goddess of wisdom.

Athena was the protector of the city Athens. She was also the goddess of wisdom and warfare. Her favourite bird was the owl and her favourite tree the olive tree, which she introduced to the city Athens. Slide4

Poseidon was the great Olympian god of the sea, rivers, flood and drought, earthquakes, and horses.

He was depicted as a mature man of sturdy build with a dark beard, and holding a trident.

Aphrodite, goddess of love.

The goddess was born from the sea foam and is thought to have been carried by the west winds to Cyprus. Although she was married to Hephaistos, she fell in love with Ares, god of war. Slide6

Ares, god of war.

ARES was the great Olympian god of war,

battle lust,

civil order and manly courage. In Greek art he was depicted as either a mature, bearded warrior dressed in battle arms, or a nude beardless youth with helm and spear. Because of his lack of distinctive attributes he is often difficult to identify in classical art.Slide7

The Olympian gods were the main deities in Ancient Greece. The Olympian gods became the rulers of the Cosmos representing the civilization of the world. The Olympian gods were majestically and democratically dwelling on Mount Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece, built by the Cyclopes.
