Spanish 1 in middle school is taught the same way and with the same rigor as in the high school since students will be receiving high school credit. Students are expected to be well organized, be able to memorize a high volume of material, self – motivated, and keep up with the pacing of the class.

Participation and attendance are critical to the success of the student.

This class will be using the FISD LOTE ( Languages Other Than English) curriculum established for Spanish 1. It does not follow a textbook program. All necessary materials will be given to your student and available on my website.Proficiency will be emphasized, in this class, but students must also master the grammatical structures needed to be successful to communicate .

Students will be allowed two times per 6 weeks to leave class to use the restroom, get a drink of water from the fountain or to go to their lockers.BYOD RulesPersonal devices are NOT allowed unless we have a special day to use them. Technology tools will be provided for your student. Retests Retests are available for any major test. The Frisco ISD retest policy is followed in this class.

HomeworkHomework is assigned each night to reinforce the lessons that have been taught in class and to help the student establish good study habits for now and in the future. It is graded on completion the next day. I will then go over it, at the start of class, while students are asking questions and taking notes on their homework as needed. This way, they will have immediate feedback of how they are doing with certain skills. Homework sheets should be kept and used as a review tool to look over before any assessment . Students will be given a grade of 100 for each assignment and an average of all homework grades will be calculated every three weeks. The overall homework grade will count as a daily grade. If a student finishes homework in class, or finishes quickly at home, there are still other things a student can do to work on improving their Spanish skills at home. The most important is the know the vocabulary needed for the unit. If a student needs more to do there are on-line games, You Tube grammar lessons and other helpful tools on my website

.

Homework sheets can also be found here.

Please go to this link, follow the prompts and submit to show you and your student understand and agree to the rules and regulations for this class.
