“Our vision is to build a vibrant squash and racketball community in SurreyThrough our development programme we want to help clubs nurture their existing members and attract new members, thus increasing participation in both squash and racketball. This means working closely with clubs, with coaches and with the England Squash & Racketball Association”

Welcome to 2013! Wishing all readers a very happy new year!

The Development team for Surrey SRA has been busy since September, working towards our ‘vision’ of building a vibrant squash and racketball community. We are currently working on the future of Surrey Squash – the Juniors! Neil Frankland, Development Director and County Junior Coach, is visiting as many Surrey Clubs as possible to assist with advice, practical tips and coaching of the Junior programmes within each Club. So far we are communicating with Surrey Sports Park, Woking, Limpsfield, Reigate, Ebbisham, Cheam, Sutton, Surbiton, Leatherhead LC, Addlestone LC, Nuffield West Byfleet, Spencer and New Malden, Along side this we are now also working as closely as possible with Sports Development Officers within as many of the 11 Boroughs of Surrey as possible, to establish a link to squash clubs for all those children who take an interest at the Surrey Youth Games trials. We need to encourage them to continue playing even if they do not make their Borough’s team. Currently we are working with Mole Valley, Runnymede, Spelthorne & Woking boroughs. We are also working with ESR to try and establish a Surrey Schools Games to include squash. Please see over the page for which Clubs fall in to which Boroughs…

Coaching Workshop , Saturday 9th Feb.Neil Frankland, level 4 coach, is running a forum on Coaching at West Byfleet Club from 4-6.30pm. This course & forum will involve discussion, tips and a practical session on court for any coaches, qualified or just interested in coaching. Again, please see the SRA website’s ‘News’ section…. http://surreysra.co.uk/home/category/news/
