Address   IMPORTANT NOTICE The potential for a sewage backup within your home was recently discovered during a routine inspection of Village owned sanitary sewers. We urge you to review the following information and enclosures, as scheduled maintenance can avoid an unplanned emergency. A closed circuit camera is inserted into a manhole in the street to “crawl” up our sewer mains to televise and record pipe conditions. We use this information to prioritize and schedule pipe repairs in our municipal system. During the inspection of our sewer, private connections are obviously seen as the camera passes by.

The photo enclosed shows a severe grease and/or root accumulation in your sewer service line near the point of connection to the Village sewer. We suggest a licensed plumber be called upon to rod your service line. Without service, the blockage will eventually restrict flow to the point of causing a sewage backup. The property owner is responsible for the pipe from the home to and including the connection at the Village sewer, according to the Roselle Code of Ordinances.

Should you desire additional information, please contact our Wastewater Division personnel at (630) 980-2024.
