Example for Pride and Prejudice

Theme: “

An

dependent

on he/she marrying well

.”

Characters that support:

Mrs.

Bennet

Stated about Mrs.

Bennet

: “The business of her life was to get her daughters married” (Austen 7).

“If I can but see one of my daughters happily settled at

Netherfield

,” said Mrs.

Bennet

to her husband, “and all the others equally well married, I shall have nothing to wish for” (Austen 11).

Caroline Bingley

Caroline

Bingley explains to Mr. Darcy how unhappy he will be should he marry Miss Elizabeth

Bennet

(Austen 52-53).

"Miss Bingley's

congratulations

to her brother, on approaching marriage, were all that were affectionate and insincere...Jane was not deceived, but she was affected; and though feeling no reliance on her, could not help writing her a much kinder answer than she knew was

deserved“ (Austen 370). Slide6
