Our goal - quality learning experience leading to success rather than speed of implementationSlide4
Important Considerations
National research demonstrates that students are more likely to succeed in the traditional high school setting.
“Between 2006-07 and 2010-11, 66 percent of students who enrolled in Florida Virtual School courses withdrew in the first month.”
“Reports of high school completion rates at or under 25 percent, lower test scores, and high dropout rates in many virtual schools should raise serious concerns”Slide5
Important Considerations
“
A 2011 Minnesota state evaluation found that their students’ completion rates in online courses were decreasing. They also found that full-time online students were more likely to drop out than their peers.”
“A Stanford University study of Pennsylvania charter schools found that all eight virtual charters in the study performed significantly worse in reading and math than their traditional school counterparts in terms of student gains.”Slide6

Final Thoughts
A good teacher working in person with your student each and every day is irreplaceable - ICE
Be realistic about what the program will require of your student
If your student struggles in school, he or she will struggle to be successful in an online course of this natureSlide9
