GENERAL VIEW ON PROJECTING STABILITY Stabilization is defined as the process by which support is given to places descending into or emerging from violent conflict. This is achieved by: preventing or reducing violence; protecting people and key institutions; promoting political processes, which lead to greater stability and preparing for longer-term development; and non-violent politics.Source: ATP 3.2.2.1

Stabilization activities encompass actions undertaken by or in coordination with indigenous national authorities, mandated authorities or other civil agencies to maintain or bring about a safe environment. Multi-agency involvement in stabilizing a crisis is impossible without adequate security and the provision of a permissive environment. NATO projecting stability in the southern neighborhood needs a cohesive and indivisible efforts (29 x 29, 24/7, through 360°) A close Cooperation with International Actors will remain extremely important to project stability in the MENA region. A strong and effective NATO coordination is required to synchronize and synergize different projecting activities which can range from operations to partnership activities. CONCLUSIONS
