Key quotations Macbeth“This push will cheer me ever, or disseat me now. I have lived long enough. My way of life is fall'n into the sere, the yellow leaf, and that which should accompany old age, as honor, love, obedience, troops of friends, I must not look to have, but, in their stead, curses, not loud but deep, mouth-honor, breath which the poor heart would fain deny and dare not.”Meaning? Doctor on a “diseased mind” “Therein the patient must minister to himself .”

Scene IV Malcolm is marching up to the castleOrders each soldier to break off a branch and hold it in front of himConceals their true numbers Speaks of Macbeth’s army“And none serve with him but constrainèd things whose hearts are absent too .” Meaning? Soliloquy “Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, creeps in this petty pace from day to day to the last syllable of recorded time, and all our yesterdays have lighted fools the way to dusty death. Out, out, brief candle! Life’s but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”What is Macbeth saying? Do you agree or disagree?
