MALE GENITAL SYSTEM REVIEW OF MACROSCOPIC STRUCTURE OF TESTIS REVIEW OF MICROSCOPIC STRUCTURE OF TESTIS ARRANGEMENTS OF CELLS INSIDE THE SEMINIFEROUS TUBULE CONTENTS OF COMPARTMENTS WITHIN THE BLOODTESTIS BARRIER. dionuclide imaging of the scrotum with techne tium-99m (99mTc) sodium was first intro duced by Nadel et al. in 1 973 (1). The primary goal of this procedure in the evaluation of the acute scrotum is t Sonography of. Scrotum and Testes. .. Anatomy. . The scrotum is divided by the midline raphe. Each half of the scrotum contains a spermatic cord, testis, and epididymis. The testes descend into the scrotum at approximately the 28th gestational week via the inguinal canal through the peritoneal recess, which is called the processus vaginalis. The processus vaginalis gradually closes through infancy and childhood. The testis is covered by a visceral layer of tunica vaginalis, except where in contact with epididymis, and by the tunica albuginea. The posterior surface of the tunica albuginea extends into the testis to form the mediastinum testis. This is seen as a middle echogenic line on longitudinal US of the testis The testis has lobules containing the seminiferous tubules. Testicular lobules are occasionally identified as lines radiating from the mediastinum testis. When a baby boy is born he has all the parts of his reproductive system in place, but it isn’t until puberty that he is able to reproduce. When puberty begins (usually 10 to 14 years) the pituitary gland (located near brain) secretes hormones that stimulate the testicles to produce testosterone. The production of testosterone brings many physical changes.. Surgical castration is the most certain method of castration because the testicles are removed completely. It is best performed before or after fly season and when calves can be turned into a dry area after the surgery. Surgical castration can be performed on any age calf. It is easier to learn on calves with larger testicles. However, larger and older calves experience more stress and usually bleed more than younger calves.. Incomplete Lesion. A lesion to the spinal cord with incomplete damage to the cord. There may be scattered motor function, sensory function or both below the level of lesion. Anorchid. or . Anorchism. :Congental. absence of both testes. Monorchid. or . Monorchism. : Congenital absence of one testis usually left. Cryptorchid. : Testicles fail to descend into the scrotum and retained in the· abdomen or in the inguinal canal. .
