Our school today

Our individuality and ethos - This is What makes us special

Over the last three years the school has worked hard to develop an ethos which puts our children and the

staff’s well-being at the heart of everything that we do. This is what sits at the core of the service we provide at Red

Hall

Primary School.

The

school is on a journey to

improve,

not only

itself, but

the lives of all of its stakeholders, offering them the best opportunities to succeed in the future.

We want our children to have the best possible start in life and go onto achieve well during their ongoing educational life. Slide5

Our school today

Our individuality and ethos - This is What makes us special

Our environment

‘our children feel safe and nurtured’We’ve adopted a neutral and calming working environment across the whole school. This began within our early years who based their work on that of Reggio

Emilia

and this has now spread through the whole

school.

Visitors comment

on how we create a purposeful and relaxing atmosphere throughout.

Many other schools in have begun to adopt a similar approach following visits to Red Hall.

This was our ultimate aim and it

facilitates a safe and nurturing learning environment that allows all of our children to succeed. Slide6

Reflecting

our ethos through the

whole school environment

Neutral is necessary.Neutral colours in our classrooms allow children’s work to stand out. We want the children’s work to draw people into our displays.

Over stimulation from bright colours is avoided.

Organisation is

Key

It

is very important for both adults and children to learn in an organised space.

This

doesn’t mean perfect or pristine but purposeful and functional and clutter free.Slide7

“An environment filled with natural light, order and beauty.”

Reggio EmiliaSlide8

We respect the need for comfort and a place to pause

Quiet Zones around the schoolSlide9

We believe in a ‘Growth Mindset’ and creating a culture of Success

We are developing a Growth Mindset ethos which encourages children to focus on what they can achieve and how they can grow as both learners and human beingsSlide10

Other important information

Attendance and Medical Matters

Attendance and punctuality is monitored very closely by a team that meets regularly. You child will be classed as having persistent absence if their attendance drops below 90%.

90% attendance is ½ a day of school missed every week. Over a school year this would be the equivalent of 4 weeks of learning lost. Letters will be sent home and attendance meetings may be arranged with the Head teacher if there is a concern.

If you child is going to be absent we expect you to contact school to explain the reasons why and you may be requested to provide medical evidence

. We can no longer authorise holidays in term time

We employ a PCSO who will make home visits on our behalf should they be needed

We celebrate and reward 100% attendance with a ‘Red Hall Reward’!Slide18

Other important information

Wellbeing team

Yvonne Watson – Family Support Worker

At Red Hall we understand that many children and families experience difficult times which can make a happy, successful school and home life a struggle. If you have worries or concerns about your child, you can always talk to their class teacher or the Head teacher as they know your child and can work with you to address any issues. However, for whatever reason, you might not feel able to or there may be other problems which parents/carers need some help with

. If that is the case why not arrange to speak to Yvonne Watson our Family Support Worker.

Angela Maddison – Learning Mentor

Angela works within our Little Leaps class every morning but every afternoon her role is to work with children in school who for whatever reason may be having some difficulties which are having an impact on their learning. Angela runs ‘Friendship groups’ at lunchtime, prepares our Year 6 pupils with their teachers for transition, runs ‘All about me’ groups and can work 1:1 with a child if they just need someone to talk to.Slide21
