Isaiah’s day – God’s People 11 “To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices to Me ?” Says the Lord . “ I have had enough of burnt offerings of rams And the fat of fed cattle. I do not delight in the blood of bulls, Or of lambs or goats. 12 “When you come to appear before Me, Who has required this from your hand, To trample My courts? 13 Bring no more futile sacrifices; Incense is an abomination to Me. The New Moons, the Sabbaths, and the calling of assemblies— I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred meeting.

Isaiah’s day – God’s People 14 Your New Moons and your appointed feasts My soul hates; They are a trouble to Me, I am weary of bearing them. 15 When you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you; Even though you make many prayers, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood. Isaiah 1:11-15

Without the heart in religion, the motivation is a show to with the approval of men. What Christ said about such things: Charitable Deeds 2 Therefore , when you do a charitable deed, do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 3 But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, Matthew 6:2-3

Without the heart in religion, the motivation is a show to with the approval of men. What Christ said about such things: Prayer And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites… Matthew 6:5a “Therefore do not be like them… Matthew 6:8a

Without the heart in religion, the motivation is a show to with the approval of men. What Christ said about such things: Fasting “Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites… Matthew 6:16a

Without the heart in religion, the motivation is a show to with the approval of men. Worship that does not involve the heart is vain “worship .” 9 ‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. 9 And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’ ” Matthew 15:8-9

Explanation

Explanation For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. Hebrews 8:10

The heart is where God wrote his law and it is the heart that : Thinks: For as he thinks in his heart, so is he . “ Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you. Proverbs 23:7a

The heart is where God wrote his law and it is the heart that: Believes 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10

The heart is where God wrote his law and it is the heart that: Purposes So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7

The heart is where God wrote his law and it is the heart that: Loves 37 Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ Matthew 22:37-39

The heart is where God wrote his law and it is the heart that: Obeys 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. Romans 6:17-18

The issues of life come from the heart Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23

Lessons for us Today

Obedience must come from the heart 17 But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered. 18 And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. Romans 6:17-18

Obedience must come from the heart 22 So Samuel said : “ Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold , to obey is better than sacrifice , And to heed than the fat of rams. 23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the Lord , He also has rejected you from being king.” 1 Samuel 15:22-23

True worship comes from the heart And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17

We are to serve the Lord from the heart not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; Romans 12:11

Conclusion 1. God wants His law written in our minds and hearts. 2 . It is naive to believe one can disobey God and still believe they have God’s law written on their hearts.
