City of Caro Project Co ordinator - City Mana ger ’ s Office Job Description Under the direct supervision of the City Manager, performs a broad range of assignments in Project Coordinator will also perform activities related to planning, organizing and executing the Cit y’s strategic goals and objectives in the areas of parks and recreation and community and eco nomic development . Performs research for ongoing and special projects as well as the development and implementation of policy initiatives or operational modifications. Possesses good organizational skills and a basic kn owledge of and/or interest in local government management . Duties include assi s ting in the determination of program needs, the preparation and presentation of programs for the consideration of City Council, and the implem entation of approved programs. FLSA Status: Part - Time ; at - will Supervised By: City Manager Supervises: None Position Summary: The P roject Coordinator may be called upon to do any, or all, of the following: (These examples do not include all of the tasks which the employee may be expected to perform.) • Assists the City Manager in the ongoing process of municipal operations. Coordinates and performs projects, and develops, implements and maintains procedures to promote administrative best practices. • Works with other departments o n special projects. Coordinates processes, provides research and administrative support, and otherwise facilitates the successful completion of • Researches and drafts standard and special reports, ordi nances, and legal conditions. • Gathers and assembles necessary information and data as directed by the City Manager. • C oordinates • Assists the City Manager with ensuring City strategic planning objectives are achieved. • Researches, analyzes, and formulates recommendations regarding a wide vari ety of new or existing initiatives dealing with financ

2 ial, organizational, programmatic, and e
ial, organizational, programmatic, and economic or personnel issues. • Assists the City Manager by coordinating Parks and Recre ation projects and programs as well C o mmunity and Econ omic Development projects . • Fosters positive relationships with employees, residents, community groups, business leaders, other local government officials, and the media, as directed. • Attends various commission, board and committee meetings, assists in researching and gathering meeting materials, and represents the City Manager as directed. • Reviews professional and academic literature and related periodicals. Identifies important issue areas, summarizes articles of int erest and reports information to appropriate personnel. • Keeps abreast of current issues, changing legislation and policies, new administrative techniques, and developments in the public administration field through continued education and professional grow th. Attends conferences, workshops, and seminars as appropriate. • Performs other duti es as assigned by the City Manager . KSAs: (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities) The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, abilities and minimum qualifications necessary to perform the essential functions of the position. Reasonable accommodations ma y be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the job. • Valid Michigan Driver’s License. • Knowledge and/or interest in the principles and practices of municipal administration, and skill in providing administrative support to such activities. • Knowledge and/or interest in g overnment operations, public administration, budgeting practices, grant writing and administration, public relations, parks & recreation programming, community & economic development. • Skill in developing, implementing and maintaining procedures to enhance efficiency in department operations and coordinate activities across departments

. • Skill in the use of office equipment and technology, including Microsoft Office Suite applications, and the ability to master new technologies quickly. • Ability to perform ext ensive research, compile complex data and prepare accurate records and reports, including financial analysis. • Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgement, initiative and resourcefulness when dealing with the public, business and community interests, elected officials, other employees, and professional contacts. • Ability to effectively communicate and present ideas and concepts orally and in writing and make presentations in public forums. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - The applicant must possess at least a n associate ’s degree or equivalent in public administration, political science, urban planning, community & economic development, parks recreation management, or other relevant course of study; bachelor ’s degree or higher (or pursuing a higher degree) p referred AND a serious interest in municipal government, particularly in general management, community & economic development or parks & recreation. The City of Caro reserves the right to consider other combinations of education and experience, at its discretion , including considering paid and unpaid internships as relevant experience. COMPENSATION : This position is p art - t ime (20 - 32 hours per week) ; $ 14 - $ 18 per hour .
