Standards development and testing and verification are of equal importance in the IEC. Conformity assessment brings the written word in Standards to the real world. Companies want to sell their products to many countries, faster, more efficiently and they don’t want to waste time or money on duplication. Standards, testing and certification are the key stepping stones for market access. All NCs (National Committees) are entitled to participate in IEC CA Systems.  IECEE : Electrotechnical Equipment and Components IECEx: Equipment for use in explosive atmospheresIECQ: Electronic componentsIECRE: Equipment used in renewable energy systemsAny certification body or testing laboratory may be proposed by a member body to participate in a System , provided that it conforms to the criteria laid down in the rules. The ultimate goal of the IEC is to achieve that any product that is certified by an IEC CA System should be tested only once and then receive a certificate that is valid everywhere. For many countries this goal has already been reached but there is still much to do .IEC Conformity Assessment Systems © 2019 SOUTH AFRICAN BUREAU OF STANDARDS.
