Question 3a – 30 MINUTESRead the question and UNDERLINE key wordsRead through PASSAGE B and highlight the things you can use for your bullet pointsWrite down 20 bullet points then cross out 5 you don’t need COUNT! Do you have JUST 15? You will only get marks for the first 15 points the examiner sees! Cross out the points you think are your WEAKEST, or which REPEAT something else…

Question 3a – 30 MINUTESRead the question and UNDERLINE key wordsRead through PASSAGE B and highlight the things you can use for your bullet pointsWrite down 20 bullet points then cross out 5 you don’t need Check! Have you spelled the key words correctly? Does every point make sense as a sentence by itself? (read it through to yourself to make sure – does it have a verb?!)…is…was…are…be…have… “no shops” “ there are no shops”

Question 3b – 15 MINUTESYou will now need to write up your bullet points into full sentences as a SUMMARY. Separate your 15 bullet points into 3 groups (you can do this by topic, or if it’s easier, just take the first 5, the next 5 and the next 5!)For each group, write up a paragraph of the points:IN YOUR OWN WORDSIN FULL SENTENCESWRITE A PARAGRAPH FOR EACH GROUP

Question 3b – 15 MINUTESYou will now need to write up your bullet points into full sentences as a SUMMARY. Question 1 - 45 MINUTESNow you have your points, decide how you want to structure your response – remember, the best answers will do something DIFFERENT to the original text. You do not have to write your ideas up in the same order! Write your response IN PARAGRAPHSIN FULL SENTENCESIN YOUR OWN WORDS!!! Think! What kind of text are you being asked to write? Make sure you get the layout, audience and tone right!
