Each state has a land grant university system.
Mississippi State is part of the land grant system and has the responsibility to extend research accomplished at the university to those in the state that can't come to the university. Slide3

Each county has Extension faculty and staff who serve local clientele with information on many topics:

There are currently 65 County Forestry Associations (CFAs) involving 73 counties in Mississippi. Extension county agents, along with Forestry Extension faculty and staff, promote and support the CFA movement through various program and project activities.
