Safety in
an industry
Safety is very important for a nuclear plant or any other industry such as oil & gas, chemicals, etc
.
We have glasses,
helmets, boots, fire extinguishers, etc. to protect us.We also have safety symbols to tell us what can happen if safety is not assessed.Almost all industries have safety instructions to be followed by employees and visitors.Unfortunately some industries have failed.Slide3
Failed industries
There was not only 1 major nuclear blast on record, but dozens of them.
I would like to tell you about a specific catastrophe which happened in Ukraine called as the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster, in 1986-2000. This nuclear plant plumed out a highly radioactive fallout in the atmosphere. The radioactivity severely contaminated Belarus, Russia and Ukraine.Slide4
How did they fail safety ?
The blast happened on a system test, when a reactor caught
an
unexpected power surge and the factory did a emergency shut
down.
Because of this, a larger spike occurred in the output which led to a series of steam blasts, these accidents resulted to a fire which exposed a lot of radioactive “fallout” in the atmosphere. The death toll reached more than 4,000. Chernobyl

Did any plant
fail this year ? 2013
Did you know that there were nuclear
accidents
this
year also ?Yes, there were, from the company called tepco, which started leaking radioactive water, even now it is leaking and Japan is working to fix a big accident.Acknowledgements:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_nuclear_power_accidents_by_countryhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_and_radiation_accidents http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chernobyl_disaster http://www.theguardian.com/environment/video/2013/aug/21/fukushima-leak-japan-serious-fatal-accident-video
