Done by Maria Elagina grade 6 Changes in climate Changes in climate can affect the way ecosystems work and upset the habitats of living things In the past climate changes occurred slowly allowing animals and plants to adapt to the new environment or move somewhere else However if future climate changes occur rapidly animals and plants may not be able to react fast enough to survive Here are some examples of animals and plants that are suffering from global warming. animals and plants.. Done by . Serega. . Potyakaylo. , . grade 6. How Are Rare Plants Conserved?. Botanists, ecologists and other resource specialists have many tools to conserve, protect, and manage these rare jewels of our natural heritage. Some of the most important and effective tools available are habitat conservation, off-site (ex situ) conservation, and law enforcement. Specialists and volunteers are essential to success in all aspects of any rare plant programs.. 5. th. Grade. Vocabulary Lesson 1-2. Ecosystem: all of the living and nonliving things in an area. Abiotic. Factor: nonliving parts of an ecosystem. Biotic Factor: living parts of an ecosystem. Population: all of the organisms of a species living in the same area. Native Plants for a Bird-Friendly Yard. The Caribbean. The seasonal movement of birds from one geographic area to another. . Fly hundreds to thousands of miles a year. Three Types. What negative impacts are invasive species having on the Great Lakes ecosystem?. .. . Done by . Chernysheva. . Ksenia. , grade 6. PEREGRINE FALCON. The peregrine falcon is the largest British falcon, living in wild uplands and rocky coasts. It may be spotted in the Scottish Highlands and Islands, in the Lake District, Devon, Cornwall, Wales and Ireland. It is an impressive hunter, its main prey being birds up to the size of pigeons which it can catch in mid-flight. Peregrines declined in numbers drastically during the 1950s and they are a specially protected bird under the Wildlife and Countryside Act. There are about 1,000 pairs in Britain.. At the beginning of this period, the major landmasses of the world were collected into the supercontinent Pangea.. • located . in tropics by . equator. • cover about 2% of earth’s surface, but house over half of world’s plant and animal species; ¼ . of medicines . originated in . rainforest. • rainforests are disappearing at an alarming rate; half have been cut down in the last century; . Objectives!. After this lesson, you will be able to…. Pick . features that make life in a given environment . possible.. Use . what . you . already know about animals to describe their features and where they live and then draw and label an animal . TERRESTRIAL HABITATS . Terrestrial Habitat: Plants and animals that live on land, are said to be living in terrestrial habitat.. There are four types of terrestrial habitats.. Deserts. Mountain Regions. Tundra is the coldest of all the biomes.. The soil in the tundra is permanently frozen. . There are low temperatures and low rain fall.. Winds sweep across the land constantly.. There are not many varieties of plant life in the tundra,. Tropical forests are characterized by the greatest diversity of species. They occur near the equator. Because the equator is evenly heated by the sun, the average temperatures of the three warmest and three coldest months do not differ by more than 5 degrees. . Follifoot. Primary School (3 classes @ 20mins each). What Wildlife might the site attract?. Red Kites (opportunistic hunters). Hedgehogs. Foxes. Badgers. Field Mice. Rabbits. Roe Deer.
