Engineered Nanomaterials (ENM) are increasingly being developed for, and used in, consumer products.Little data exists on how ENM are being used and which consumer groups are using them, or whether use of these products leads to ENM exposures.Research could be guided by a prioritization system, but no tool exists that could easily assign priority to ENMs.Separate resources exist which:Catalog products which contain ENMsTrack population use of consumer productsSynthesizing these data would allow for analysis of ENMs and determination of their priority for further research

Conclusions

“Not Yet Assigned” refers to products which do not fit into any existing subcategory. They will be classified after further revisions to the categorization system.“To Be Reassigned” refers to products which were assigned a category in a previous version of the categorization system, but have not yet been updated to reflect recent changes.

Many ENM products fall into categories with high risks ofexposureHuman contact – CS, FC, PCExpected impact on environment – CP, PE, VESevere knowledge gaps are present about which ENMs arein these products
