Creating an Empire

Qin Shihuangdi helped Ancient China build an Empire. We think he did this in a very effective way. Emperor Qin was greatly influenced by legalism. He gave harsh punishments, and even executed to those who were plotting against him. He even exiled his own mother from court when he found out that she was plotting against him.Slide3

Ending Opposition

The confusions rebelled against the emperor’s rules. The Confusions rebelled against the emperor's laws. The Emperor was scared of the Confusions that he removed Confusion books from the library, burned the confusion’s books and executed some of the Confusions. We thought this was a very ineffective way to rule China. Slide4

Standardizing the Culture

Emperor Qin’s ways and efforts to standardize Chinese culture worked so good that it made him a very effective ruler. He standardized things such as money and weights because he didn’t like the money system. He also changed the written language by removing some of the characters out of the 9,000 characteristics.Slide5

Protecting the Northern Border

The Emperor wanted to protect China like India so had his workers build a wall to protects China which is now The Great Wall of China. It tool 10 years to build it. Few traces of the wall survive because was changed by later rulers. The workers who built it were peasants. The workers had great difficulties building the wall. During the years the workers had to go through blazing hot summers and bitter cold winters. Now the Great wall of china is one of the defenses Qin Shihuangdi came up with that had an good impact on China.

The Emperor’s death and the end of the Qin Dynasty

The Emperor’s death was horrible, He was so scared to die that he asked magicians to give him a magic potion. But that did not work. Once he died the whole Qin Dynasty fell apart. This was very effective. People rebels fought against the Qin Dynasty and they won, That is how the Han Dynasty started. Emperor when he was buried he was buried in a huge tomb, Some of his men were buried with him to prevent grave robbers. They also made human like statues called terra-cotta army to protect emperor Qin. Slide7

Conclusion

A lot of people disagreed with Qin’s laws, but some people agreed. The next dynasty was the Han dynasty. Qin’s strategies were very effective to the people in China.
