Community Gardens:50/50 BY 2015: DEMANDING A STRONG POST 2015 AGENDASlide25

RESULTS contdEvidence

‘there has been a significant reduction in deforestation in our area since the project involves several women from various areas thus reduces deforestation for garden use as we are now combined and operate in a centralised area. The community garden project has enabled us to generate income for use in our households as we are now able to buy households utensils and provide for our children...’ (Elizabeth Mundete)

50/50 BY 2015: DEMANDING A STRONG POST 2015 AGENDASlide26

RESULTS contd‘

this initiative has strengthened our image in society. In a male dominated society the project has helped increase our status rating as wed as we are now viewed as independent and self reliant people. The project has brought about a lot of education and in some cases through this project women have actually been elevated to households heads. Prostitution in our ward has reduced as a result and the level of separations among couples has decreased....’(Benedate Sithole)

50/50 BY 2015: DEMANDING A STRONG POST 2015 AGENDASlide27

RESULTS contd

MEN FOR CHANGEMale support women in the initiation of the projects. Men provided labour and expertise support.
