How ICAT would facilitate- E-Rickshaw Type Approval ?
Facilitate the documentation
Facilitate case registration in IOCS Facilitate introduction to Component suppliers Educate on vehicle level requirements/discrepancies as per notified standard
Set-up of a dedicated help desk at CSC dept for E-rickshaw approval Slide4
Type Approval procedure
Start
Submission of Test property, Payment & documentation
ICAT would facilitate preparation of documentation
Online case Registration in IOCS
Physical Verification of E-Rickshaw
ICAT to suggest necessary changes as per regulations and manufacturers to do the suggested modifications
Testing at VEL, VTC & CMEL
Test Report & Certificate preparation
Release of certificate
ICAT would facilitate in case registration
End
Important:
Component level test reports (excluding wheel rim) shall be submitted along with Type Approval Certificates (TACs) as per AIS:037.
All components shall have
CoP
certificates as per AIS:037, in case the TACs are more than 02 years old.Slide5

Problem/Issue
Suggested Pro-active Solutions
1.
Non-Compliance
in Lighting Installation Test
Pre-checking of documents
and component approvals by concerned engineer
2.
Non-Compliance
in RVM Installation Test
Positioning and approval of mirrors to be pre-checked by concerned engineer
3.
Non-Compliance
in Hand Hold Test
Suitable load bearing structure & Component to be fitted as per required strength.Armrest shall not be considered as Handhold
4. Delay /non submission of Installation Drawings & Technical Specifications
Related documents and drawings to be submitted initially as per requirements during case opening.Slide13

VIN-Vehicle Identification Number (AIS:065)
VIN is a unique combination of characters assigned to each vehicle by manufacturer VIN consists of 3 sections:
WMI-World Manufacturer’s Identification
VDS- Vehicle Descriptor section
VIS- Vehicle Indicator section
WMI-Code assigned to manufacturer by BIS/SAE
VDS-Composed of six characters chosen by manufacturer to indicate general characteristics
VIS- compose of eight characters chosen by manufacturer to provide clear identification to particular vehicleSlide15
Documents Required to get WMI Code
Name, address of the firm and location of the manufacturing unit
Photocopy of Memorandum of Article
Photocopy of the industrial license (attested by an Authorized signatory) to carry out the manufacturing of automobiles
Installation capacity and number of vehicles manufactured per year along with the technical details of the vehicles, brand name etc (model wise)
Whether you are using any coding system at present, if yes its details
Size of firm i.e., small scale or large scale (with certificate)
Detail of VDS and section of VIN along with drawings as specified in ISO 37793780/4430
A DD of INR 5000/- + 12.36% ST in favor of Bureau of Indian Standards, payable at New Delhi as processing charges for allotment of WMI Code
