Explanation of Topic choice
I have chosen to do a drama-doc but with a comedy twist as I am going to base it on an emphasised stereotype
. During the documentary
I
will follow two ‘LADS’ on their adventures including their time at the Gym and their drunken escapades.
I believe this will be fun to film as I will make it relevant to my age group and therefore I think people of around my age will understand the humour and enjoy watching it.
Also
I
think that this type of film will be easy to add a range of soundtracks to. Slide3

Synopsis (add sounds to make treatment)
The first scene will be set around early morning to midday and we will start by having a panoramic establishing shot of the surrounding fields. There will then be a mid shot of myself as the camera operator and host stating the intentions of the documentary.
There will then be a few cutscenes of me poking my head round corners and looking over things with binoculars.
We will then see me entering a house and whispering to the camera as if I had broken in to the house and sneaking through, stating that if you want to find a true LAD then all you have to do is follow the sound of weights clanging and club music. I will then fade in to a low angle handheld shot as I crawl across the floor towards the Gym in the house, in which the LADS are training. As the room comes in to view from the low angle shot we see one of them lifting weights whilst the other takes selfies of his muscles to put on instagram. Also after every few repetitions the one lifting will ask the other to feel his arms and see if he’s getting bigger. After about 30 seconds of this, Jack will show the other LAD ‘Stew’ a girl’s profile on instagram, telling him that her and her mates are going to be at the pub tonight and that he is going to get some, Stew then replies with ‘I reckon I will too, check my comb over it’s Slide8

This scene will start with me filming myself approaching the pub explaining what I am hoping to catch on film. I will then have a long shot of the two lads watching them chatting to some girls outside the pub, trying to hit on them. One of them, Stew will try it on with a number of girls but will get rejected each time, the first one will reject him in a more polite manner, and as he gets more and more desperate the rejections will get worse, ending with a glass of some liquid over him.Slide9

We will then pan from looking around at the countryside and hearing bird songs to seeing the two typical ‘LADS’ laid by the side of the road in a small village groaning, with bottles of alcohol around them. I will then use a handheld shot to document the things they are doing while now and again turning the camera towards my face to show me speaking. One of the LADS will then start to urinate on the other while drinking a bottle of lager they had by the side of them left over from the night before.
Jack, the LAD who is urinating on the other will then notice me filming again and will recognise me shouting some drunken abuse at me before chasing me and throwing his lager towards me and ‘hitting me on the head’. When he is chasing me there will be some dramatic action music to emphasise the danger of the situation. As I run from him there will be mid shot that pans across following us, after a few steps however due to the alcohol Jack will stumble and fall over before the camera fades out.Slide10

Changes to production
In the end I needed to change
the production I was planning to do, to a completely different one. This was due to one of the cast members telling me he would be able to film on certain days and then letting me down. I then decided to just film anything when I got the chance and used a film we made when we went away on a college trip to put a soundtrack over. Because of this it meant that the actual footage
I
had wasn’t able to be used to create the same level of soundtrack that I wanted to make.
I would of liked to use different mixes of
diegetic
and non
diegetic
sound and I would’ve also liked to of used lots more
foley
.
However I feel like I did well to make a fairly good soundtrack and film out of the footage that I had. Slide12
