What do you like best about sleep?

When or how can sleep be a problem?

Revelation 3:1 “To the angel of the church in Sardis  write: These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars.

Jesus is speaking to His church

We have a God who can awaken us! Revelation 3:1 “These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars .”

Revelation 5:6 Then I saw a Lamb, looking as if it had been slain, standing at the center of the throne, encircled by the four living creatures and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes, which are  the seven spirits of God  sent out into all the earth.

“Spirit of the living God, fall afresh on me! Melt me, mold me, fill me, use me.”

T he DIAGNOSIS of the problem in almost dead churchesRevelation 3:1 “I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.” Your reputation doesn’t match your reality!

What in our culture, our nation, our church( es ) do people tend to think makes for an “alive” church that really may have nothing to do with the spiritual vitality of the people of God?

The church of Jesus Christ is always just one generation away from extinction!

Jesus’ call to spiritually asleep churches: 1.) Set your alarm…continually! Revelation 3:1-2 “I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.  2  Wake up !”

1.) Set your alarm ! What sorts of spiritual activities wake me up?

2.) Rehab what you’ve got! Vs . 2-- “Strengthen what remains and is about to die….”

3.) Review what you knew! Vs . 3— “Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard….”

4.) DO what you know ! Revelation 3:3 — Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent.

5.) Really Change Directions (Repent) Revelation 3:3 —… hold it fast, and repent.

The Danger of Spiritual Sleepiness: “ But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.”

Promises for Awakened Saints #1 Jesus will walk with YOU constantly! Revelation 3:4— Yet you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their clothes. They will walk with me , dressed in white, for they are worthy.

Promises for Awakened Saints #2 Jesus will take away our shame and clothe us with beauty. Revelation 3:4, 5--They will walk with me , dressed in white , for they are worthy.  5   The one who is victorious will, like them, be dressed in white .

Promises for Awakened Saints #3 Jesus will guard you eternally. Revelation 3:5-- “I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life….”

Promises for Awakened Saints #4 Jesus will cherish you publically. Revelation 3:5- -“I will never blot out the name of that person from the book of life, but will acknowledge that name before my Father and his angels .”

Jude 1: 24-25To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy—  25  to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.
