Slide9Any Challenges? Yes
Shortage of teachers is big issue especially in Pemba. This includes shortage of Science teachers and science facilities to facilitate learning -This is also confirmed by the Out of School mapping Study by Oxford Policy Management, Feb2018.
Low community awareness on their role to support education initiatives. In some areas parents do not cooperate well with teachers and hence schools performance diminish day after day.
Sustainability/maintenance of schools is at stake even in the areas where schools building are brand new communities fail to take over in terms of small repairs to make learning environment looking better.
High increase of children/enrollment as in some areas has resulted into shortage high teachers students ratio. This means there is high demand of more classrooms.
High level of poverty of the parents has resulted into children coming to schools very unprepared in terms of schools requirements including school uniforms and shoes.
Low students learning performance especially in English Language and Literacy which results into poor performance in other subjects.
Slide10A Way Forward
